Between 1894 and 1908 the Aberdeen steamboat made three trips a week along the St. John River between Fredericton and Woodstock. Named for the boat, this suite offers majestic views of the river and the city from the large windows. The riverside suite also features a king-size bed and private bathroom with spacious shower. With its nod to Fredericton’s history and its view of the present landscape, this suite will have you ready to immerse yourself in Fredericton’s story. This suite is located on the second floor.

In the 19th Century, roads in New Brunswick were sparse and waterways were the main means of transport. After The invention of the steam engine, steamboats replaced muscle and sail power. The first steamboat in New Brunswick, the General Smyth, sailed between St John and Fredericton in 1816.

The Aberdeen Steamboat was built in 1894 and until 1906 sailed up three times a week between Fredericton and Woodstock when the water was high enough. She carried freight and passengers, stopping up to 18 times on the way. She also offered excursions and cruises in the moonlight.
